Turn Off Resource Intensive Services to Speed up Windows Vista

Windows Vista operating system has become more and more popular among computer users because of its fantastic performance and beautiful user interfaces. Meanwhile, how to speed up Windows Vista is taken as a most-concerned topic.

1. RDC  (short of Remote Differential Compression)

Tip on how to turn off RDC:

Step 1 Go to start and open Control Panel
Step 2 Choose Programs and Features in Control Panel box
Step 3 Click on “Turn Windows Features on and off” on the left menu
Step 4 Choose to uncheck “Remote Differential Compression” item to turn it off.

2. Windows Search Indexing
Windows Vista offers an up-to-date index of files and folders, thus you can make searching on computer faster. But this index will slow down your computer somehow for it must be kept updated on a regular basis. For computer users who do not do much searching in daily use, it is suggested to turn this index off.

Step 1 Click Start and select Computer
Step 2 Move your mouse on c and right click it
Step 3 Select the General option
Step 4 Go to uncheck Index this drive for faster searching

3. PC hibernation
PC hibernation is a very useful feature on Windows Vista. But it can also let your computer slow. If you do not use this feature frequently, it is suggested to switch this feature off by following tip as below:
Step 1 Go to open Control Panel
Step 2 Select Power Options in Control Panel window
Step 3 Click Change Plan Settings item
Step 4 Go to Sleep and select Hiberate After
Step 5 Change the selector to 0 and click Apply to turn off PC hibernation
